Early Life and Education
Belle loved to sing at an early age. Her vocal talents were discovered during her church performances, making her a local sensation. She attended Dwight Morrow High School and later enrolled in Manhattan School of Music and Rutgers University.
Career Highlights
Her debut album came in 1987; it was titled "All By Myself". The album has single hits like "Show Me the Way" and "So Many Tears". Two years later, she released her second studio album titled “Stay with Me”. The album, which had tracks like “All I Want Is Forever” and "What Goes Around”, received a gold certification from the RIAA (the Recording Industry of America) in 1990.
1993 saw her third studio album “Passion” go platinum. She also composed original songs for movies such as "Aladdin" and "The Swan Princess". Belle has worked with Labels including Pendulum, Concord, and Columbia.
Other notable albums of the singer-songwriter include: “Believe in Me”, “This Is Regina!”, and “The Day Life Began”. The latter, which is her tenth studio album, was released in 2016 under the New Jersey-based record label Shanachie Records.
Personal Life
Belle was married to saxophonist Horace Alexander Young from 1985 to 1990. Following the demise of her first marriage, she tied the knot with former basketball player John Sidney Battle in 1991.All in all, she has five children, including her first child, Tiy, who was born in the late 1980s.

Belle won the Grammy Award for her original song "A whole New World" in the popular animated movie Aladdin.
