About Regina Spektor
Russian-American singer-songwriter and pianist, Regina Ilyinichna Spektor is best known in the anti-folk scene for hit albums such as ‘Begin to Hope’, ‘Remember Us to Life’, ‘What We Saw from the Cheap Seats’ and ‘Far’.
Family Life
She was born to Illya Spektor, a photographer and violinist and Bella Spektor, a music professor. She grew up with her brother, Boruch who has featured in her ‘Soviet Kitsch’ album (2004). She got married to singer Jack Dishel in 2011, and birthed a son in 2014.
Achievements
Her album titled ‘Begin to Hope’ was hugely successful, hitting number 20 on the US Billboard charts and earning a Gold certification from the RIAA.
In 2009, she took home the Studio 8 Female Voice Award.
Borough President Ruben Diax, Jr. inducted her into the Bronx Walk of Fame in 2019.
At the 2011 New York Music Awards, she won the Best Live Recording and Best Female Rock Vocalist awards.
Trivia
Her single, “You've Got Time” has been featured in the opening of Netflix series, “Orange Is The New Black”.
