About Rex Bell
George Francis Beldam, better known by his stage name Rex Bell, was an American actor and politician. In addition to being a western movie star, he served as Nevada's 21st Lieutenant Governor.
Personal Life
In 1931, he wed his co-star Clara Bow. The couple had two sons.
Career
He made his acting debut in the 1928 picture “Wild West Romance” before moving on to roles in movies like “Broadway to Cheyenne” (1932), “Fighting Pioneers” (1935), and "Crashin' Broadway” (1932).
In 1944, he went against Democrat Berkeley Bunkerfor a seat in the US House of Representatives. Bell was defeated. However, that defeat did not stop his political aspirations. In 1958, the Republican was re-elected as lieutenant governor.
Death
In 1962, while still the governor of Nevada, he passed away from a heart attack just after going to a Fourth of July campaign launch party.
