Personal life
He was born as Ludwig Franz Hirtreiter but became widely known by his stage name, Rex Gildo.
The former actor initially got married to Marion Ohlsen his cousin in 1974 but the two parted company in 1990.
Music Career
He began his career with the Munich Kammerspiele theatre group before deciding to embark on a solo career.
As a solo artist, he released the following songs:
“Sieben Wochen nach Bombay”, “Yes My Darling”, “Zwei blaue VergiBmeinnicht” and “Dein Gluck ist mein Gluck” among others.
He worked with record labels, Electrola, Ariola Records and Columbia Records.
While pursuing his music career, he was also seen in front of the cameras, featuring in films like, “My Niece Doesn’t Do That”, “Dance with Me Into the Morning”, “The World Revolves Around You” and the German comedy film, “What Is the Matter with Willi?”
Death
He died after spending three days in a hospital due to complications from an attempted suicide. Rex jumped out of a window of his apartment, resulting in a coma.
