Prior to becoming the rapper, songwriter and record producer, Rich Brian, born Brian Imanuel Soerwano was a Twitter comedian. He began toying with the idea of a career in hip hop music after listening to songs by the likes of Macklemore, Drake, Kanye West and Childish Gambino.
The Indonesian act's official debut song "Dat $tick" shot him to international fame in 2016. He has also gained further international attention with other singles such as "Gospel", "Glow Like Dat" and "Crisis*.
Personal Life
He grew up in West Jakarta, where he was homeschooled by his parents. He has three siblings.

His YouTube music channel has accumulated over 1.9 million subscribers. “Dat $tick” and “Gospel” have been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
