About Richard Arkwright
Richard Arkwright was widely regarded as the pioneer of the modern-day factory system. He was celebrated for his ability to combine raw materials, machinery, power, and semi-skilled labors to produce yarn in large quantities.
The English inventor was mostly known for developing the famous spinning frame which was popular during the Industrial Revolution. He also held the patent right for a carding engine used to transform raw cottons into skeins.
As one of the most popular businessmen of his era, Arkwright owned factories in a number of cities and villages including Matlock Bath, and Manchester.
Family
His parents were simply referred to as Thomas and Sarah. He had six other siblings. In 1755, he married a lady named Patience Holt with whom he had a son called Richard Arkwright Junior. After the death of his wife, he married Margaret Biggins and together they had three kids.
Honors
He became a British knight in 1786.

He left behind an amount of £500,000 after his death.
