About Richard II of England
Richard II, well known as Richard of Bordeaux, was a respected English King. He ruled England from the year 1377 to 1399.
After the death of his grandfather, Edward III, he succeeded the throne at the age of just 10 years old. He played a significant role in ending the outbreak of the Peasants’ Revolt.
Family
He was born to Joan of Kent and Edward the Black Prince. In 1382, he married Anne of Bohemia who was the daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. Anne passed as result of a plague in 1394.
Death
It is believed that he was starved to death while he was held as a captive in Pontefract Castle in the year 1400.
Trivia
Richard was succeeded by Henry IV after his death.
