About Rick Rude
Rick Rude was the ring name of Richard Erwin Rood, an American professional wrestler. He debuted in 1982 and retired after 12 years because of a back injury he sustained during a title match in 1994. He wrestled under various promotions including, but not limited to, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). After his retirement, he became a manager to some wrestlers including Curt Henning.
Family Life
He was the son of Sally Jean Thompson and Richard Clyde Rood. He and his first wife, Cheryl Holler divorced after six years of marriage. He married Michelle, whom he went on to have three children with, in 1988.
Achievements
His championship wins include the WCW International Heavyweight, WWF World Heavyweight and WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight. He has been a WWE Hall of Famer since 2017.
Death
He died on 20 April 1999 from mixed medications overdose.
