About Ricky Ponting
Ricky Thomas Ponting can best be described as an Australian cricket legend. Known for his stellar career in Test cricket and the One Day Internationals (ODI), he made a name for himself during his reign as captain of the Australian national cricket team from 2004 to 2011.
In domestic leagues, he played for the Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes in Australia as well as Kolkata Knight Riders in India.
Family Life
He is the son of Lorraine and Graeme Ponting. He was raised alongside three younger siblings in Launceston, Tasmania. He has three children with Rianna Cantor, whom he wed in June 2002.
Achievements
He received the Allan Border Medal in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009. He was also named the 2003 “Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World”.
Trivia
Since retiring in 2012, he has worked as a coach for the Mumbai Indians and an assistant coach for the Australian national team.
