He was a British actor and comedian who was born Richard Maywall. He is noted to have played a significant role in the mainstreaming comic style, "alternative comedy" in the 1980s.
Mayall’s parents taught drama right from the time he was young, this gave him the opportunity to have mastered the art right from a young age as he featured in his parents plays. This also bred his zeal to study drama at University of Manchester.

He got married to makeup artist, Barbara Robbin in 1985 and their marriage spanned for about 29 years before his sudden death in 2014. His children include; Rosie, Bonnie and Sidney.
Achievements
He won the British Comedy Awards for the "Best TV Comedy Actor" in 1993. That same years, Mayall also won the "Outstanding Voice-Over Performance" at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
He made it into the top 50 comedy performers of all time in a 2005 Channel 4 "Comedians' Comedian" poll.
Trivia
Ironically, he died of a heart attack while jogging.
