About Rikki Rockett
As the drummer of one of the most popular heavy metal bands Poison, Rikki Rockett was widely popular in the 1990s. He came on to the scene in 1983 and has defied controversy and cancer to remain relevant for more than three decades.
Early Life
This Pennsylvania native was born Richard Allan Ream. He is the youngest of his parent’s children. He tried his hands on various vocations after leaving high school but followed his passion and joined childhood friend Bret Michaels to form the glam metal band Poison.
Life in Poison
Rockett was the band’s drummer and was in charge of their image as well. He was instrumental in the band's hit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". In 1993, it was revealed band mate and guitarist Richie Kotzen was having an affair with Rockett’s fiancée at the time. This scandal almost tore up the band. In 2003, he decided to start his solo project by releasing “Glitter 4 Your Soul”.
Other Projects
He founded Rockett Drum Works Inc, a drum manufacturing company in 2007.
Personal Life
He tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Melanie Martel in 2008 and they have two children together. However, they got divorced in 2017. In 2015, Rockett was diagnosed with throat cancer, a year later he was cancer free.
Trivia
Rockett formed a rock supergroup called The Devil City Angels with members of other rock bands in 2015.
