About Robert Emmet
Robert Emmet was an orator, activist, and rebel leader from the Republic of Ireland. He began participating in active politics when he was in college. In 1798, Emmet decided to form a new version of his association, Society of United Irishmen, which would eventually lead to the defeat and end of the Protestant Ascendancy and British rule in Ireland. Upon so many failed attempts to help his nation to gain independence and free them from British rule, he was arrested and sentenced to death without a fair hearing.

He was educated at Trinity College in Dublin.
Family
He was born to Elizabeth Mason and Dr. Robert Emmet. He had a sibling named Thomas Addis Emmet.
Death
In 1803, he was hanged and beheaded.
Honors
After his death, several places have been named after him as well as numerous statues built in honor of him. Some of these places include Emmetsburg, Emmet County, Robert Emmet's GAC Slaughtneil, and Emmet Park. One of his statues has been erected in front of the California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco.
