About Robert Fisk
Robert Fisk was a British writer and journalist who became known for his work as an international correspondent. He dedicated many years of his life towards reporting on wars and conflicts in countries such as Algeria, Lebanon, Syria, Kosovo, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Bosnia. He had previously been a columnist for Sunday Times before moving to The Times where he started his work as a correspondent. He gained notoriety for interviewing Osama bin Laden thrice.
Personal Life
He was born to William Fisk, a First World War veteran and a Maidstone Corporation treasurer. For 12 years, Fisk was married to Lara Marlowe, also a journalist. They went their separate ways in 2006. He is a fluent Arabic speaker.
Achievements
He was honoured with the Jacob’s Award, Amnesty International Press Awards, Lannan Cultural Freedom Prize and the British Press Awards during his lifetime.
Death
He passed away from a stroke on October 30, 2020, at 74 years old.
