About Robert Hooke
Robert Hooke was a 17th English physicist best remembered for discovering the law of elasticity, which is also known as Hooke's law. He is also known for writing the highly influential science book Micrographia, which is famed for inventing the popular biological word "cell".
Family Life
He was the born to Cecily Gyles and John Hooke. He was the last of his parents’ four children. He never got married nor had children.
Trivia
He suffered poor health throughout his life.
The asteroid 3514 Hooke was named in his honor.
He was also a very skilled architect who designed a number of famous buildings, including the Bethlem Royal Hospital and the Royal Greenwich Observatory.
