About Robert Ley
Robert Ley was one of the most prominent personalities during the Nazi Germany period. He joined the political group in the 1920s and, in 1932, he was elevated to the position of a Reichsinspecteur II. The following year, he was selected as the leader of the German Labour Front. He was notoriously known for his free-spending attitude, and was accused of embezzling funds of the party.
Family
He was the seventh child of Emilie Wald and her husband Friedrich Ley, and was raised alongside ten other siblings. He was survived by five children.
Education
Ley studied at the University of Bonn, the University of Münster, and the University of Jena.
Death
While awaiting trial for his war crimes charges, the German politician committed suicide.
Trivia
He invited King Edward VIII to his country during his time as the head of the German Labour Front.
One of the Nazi’s cruise ships was named after him.
