He is a Brazilian football player who became a football ambassador after his retirement. Roberto Carlos’s playing career kicked-off in Brazil where he played the forward position but spent most of the time playing the left back position.
Due to his intense playing skills, he is mostly referred to as the "most offensive-minded left-back in the history of the game". He is also ranked amongst the best left backs in sports history.
Some of the teams with whom he has plied his trade include União São João (1991 - 1993), Real Madrid (1996 - 2009), Corinthians (2010 - 2011), and "Delhi Dynamos".

His father is Oscar da Silva while his mother is Vera da Silva. His siblings include; Giseli, Silvia and Cristiane da Silva. He got married to Mariana Luccon in 2009. His children include; Giovanni, Rebeca, Luca, Christopher, Roberta, Manuela, Carlos and Roberto Carlos Júnior.
