He showed interest in football at an early age. He joined a football club in his hometown and crossed paths with Guardiola who had played in the same team for some time. Career
He started his career as a footballer with AC Milan in 1998 and was with them till 2001 when he was loaned to Monza between 1998 and 1999. When he left them, he played for Padova before being loaned again to Avellino.
In 2001, he became a player for Salernitana. He also played for Foggia, Arezzo, Napoli and Catania. In 2013, he started his managerial career with Darfo Boario before moving on to manage Foggia. The next team he handled was Palermo then he went on to Benevento before Sassuolo. In 2021, he worked with Shakhtar Donetsk before managing Brighton & Hove Albion.
