About Rocío Jurado
Rocio Jurado is regarded as one of the most successful Spanish female singers of all time and was affectionately nicknamed “La más grande”, which meant “The Greatest.”
Early Years
Jurado was born to Fernando Crespo and Rocio Bernal. She had two younger siblings, Gloria and Amador. She developed her love for music and performance when she was very young, starring in plays, singing in church, and participating in contests.
Singing Career
She found international fame in the 1970s and 1980s, releasing hit songs, including “Como una ola”, “Como yo te amo”, “Muera el amor”, and “Vibro.” She even performed for then-President of the USA, Ronald Reagan at the White House and won many awards. Jurado has released over 20 studio albums and appeared in several Spanish films. She passed away in 2006.
Awards & Recognition
From 2002 till her death, she was an honorary member of the American Forum of the Arts. In 2004, she received the Gold Medal of Merit in Labour.
