About Rocky Colavito
Cleveland Guardians Hall of Fame inductee Rocco Domenico Colavito Jr. is a former professional baseball player. He played as a base field outfielder. He became famous in 1933 after becoming the first American outfielder to play a complete season with a perfect field percentage.
Education and Early Years
The baseball player lived his childhood days in The Bronx and was a massive fan of the New York Yankees. He was born to Angelina and Rocco Colavito. Young Colavito enrolled in Theodore Roosevelt High School but dropped out at 16 to pursue his baseball career.
Career
Colavito made his professional debut with the Cleveland Indians in 1995. He played for the team and batted an impressive number of more than 30 home runs.
In 1959, he joined the Detroit Tigers from 1960 to 1963. The baseball player also played for Kansas City Athletics in 1964 before returning to his first team, Cleveland, from 1965 to 1967. Colavito played for the Chicago White Sox in 1967, Los Angeles Dodgers in 1968, and finally joined the New York Yankees in 1968. He bowed out of the sport at the Yankees.
Personal Life
Colavito married Carmen Perroti in 1954, and they have 3 children together.
Achievements
In the 1950s and 1960s, he was featured nine times in the All-Star game.
