About Roger Corman
Roger William Corman became a household name in film production and direction in the late 1950s. Before making his directorial debut with “Five Guns West” in 1955, he had written and sold the script for the film “Highway Dragnet” and subsequently produced two films: “Monster From the Ocean Floor” (1954) and “The Fast and the Furious” (1955).
As a director and producer, Corman has been credited with giving a head start in the industry to actors such as Sylvester Stallone, Jack Nicholson and Bruce Dern.
Family Life
He was born to William Corman and Anne High. His younger brother was the late film producer, Gene Corman. They founded New World Pictures and produced films together.
Achievements
He has been honored with accolades such as the ‘Raindance Lifetime Achievement Award’, ‘Empire Independent Spirit Award’ and the ‘PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Motion Pictures’.
Trivia
His past film projects have been archived at the Cinémathèque Française, the Museum of Modern Art, and the British Film Institute.
