The mind-blowing rock group Iron Butterfly sprang from the swinging sixties and introduced renowned drummer Ron Bushy to the rock music scene. "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", the band's famous 1968 hit, featured him as the drum soloist.

He majored in psychology and biology in college.
He was survived by his wife and three daughters when he died on August 29, 2021 in Santa Monica, California.
Career
He joined Iron Butterfly in 1966 after performing in a group named the Voxmen. He was the bandmate of guitarist Erik Brann, bassist Lee Dorman, vocalist and keyboardist Doug Ingle.
Their second album featured the song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which was released after he played drums on the group's debut album “Heavy” (1968). He re-joined the band in 1974 and 1978, contributing to its fifth and sixth studio albums. He was the group's sole member to appear on all six studio albums.
