He has won four major championships, including 2011 U.S. Open and the 2014 PGA Championship. He is noted as being the youngest player to reach $10 million in career earnings (during 2012).
Controversial Statement
Although he was key in Europe's win against the U.S. at three recent Ryder Cups, McIlroy said that it was just “another exhibition” to him, which he later retracted.
