About Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights activist.
Her Story
On a December day in 1955, Parks was riding a Montgomery, Alabama bus when she was told to give up her seat to a white passenger. She refused, and was arrested for her refusal. Though other people had similarly refused to put up with segregation, her story and the fact that she was an important member of the NAACP helped make her case an important story for the American Civil Rights movement. After the incident, there was a boycott of buses in Montgomery. She later moved but was still an activist.
