Known for her feistiness and determination, Rosie Jones can be described as one of the most popular golf players of her era. With 13 Wins on the LPGA Tour, she opened the door for a generation of female golfers across the globe.
Career
This California-born was a three-time New Mexico Junior Champion from 1974 and went on to win the 1979 New Mexico State Championship.
She qualified for her first LPGA Tour in 1982 and won five times in 1988, 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001. Although she never won any major championship, she has been a runner-up in four tournaments. She represented the United States in the Solheim Cup seven times and was captain of the team in 2010.
Jones retired from competitive golf in 2006 and launched her travel agency, Rosie Jones Golf Getaways the same year.
Personal Life
Jones came out as a lesbian publicly in 2004.
