About Roy Worters
Roy Worters, born Roy Thomas Worters, was one of the greatest 20th-century hockey goaltenders. With a height of 160cm, he was the shortest hockey player in NHL history. However, he was often described as a titan in goal for his outstanding goalie skills.

Playing Career & Awards
He began his career at the "Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets", establishing himself as a prolific goalie in the senior and amateur leagues. However, the Yellow Jackets' expansion team "Pittsburgh Pirates" entered the NHL in 1925, retaining Worters as the goalie. He was arguably the best NHL goalie in all three seasons with the Pirates. Additionally, he set a netminder record in the NHL by stopping 70 out of 73 shots in his first season in the league.
He joined the New York Americans in the 1928-29 NHL season and spent the rest of his career with them. In his debut season with the Americans, he became the first netminder to earn the "Hart Memorial Trophy". He also won the 1930-31 "Vezina Trophy" and became the team captain in 1932. Worters announced his retirement in 1938.
He became a "Hockey Hall of Famer" in 1969.
Death
He died of throat cancer at age 57 on November 7, 1957.
