Ruth Gordon was an accomplished American actress who received an Oscar Award for her performance in the horror film "Rosemary's Baby," as well as the Golden Globe and Kansas City Film Critics Circle Awards.
With a long and distinguished career that spanned six decades, she landed notable roles in a number of successful films and television series including “Abe Lincoln in Illinois”, “Rhoda”, “Taxi”, “The Great Houdini”, and “Maxie” making her one of the most popular actors of her days.
Besides acting, she also boosted her profile as a dramatist, and screenwriter, writing several movie scripts and books most notably “A Double Life”, “The Marrying Kind”, and “Pat and Mike”.
Clinton Jones and Annie Tapley were her parents.
She was married twice: first to Gregory Kelly from 1921 to 1927, and then to Garson Kanin from 1942 until her death in 1985.
