About Ryan White
Ryan White was an American teenager who contracted HIV at the age of 13 through a blood transfusion. He gained international attention after he was expelled from school because of the disease. For years, he used his fame to change people’s perception of AIDS. He died in 1990 at the age of 18, just a month before he was to graduate from high school. Shortly after his death, the U.S. Congress passed the AIDS bill, the Ryan White Care Act.

He was the son of Jeanne Elaine Hale and Hubert Wayne White.
Trivia
Although he was given only six months to live after his HIV diagnose, he went on to live five years longer. His funeral was attended by several celebrities including Michael Jackson, First Lady Barbara Bush and Elton John, who was one of his pallbearers.
