About Salva Dut
As one of 17,000 boys from Sudan’s southern region who attempted to escape in 1985 from danger during the country’s civil war, Salva Dut was fortunate to be one of the survivors. Nicknamed “Lost Boys of Sudan”, many lost their lives during the attempt to find a safe haven. Prior to arriving at a refugee camp in Kenya, Salva and many others had first sought refuge in Ethiopia. He was one of 3800 Lost Boys of Sudan who were sent to the United States in 1996. Today, he has become an activist fighting to get potable water to South Sudan’s deprived areas.
