About Samir Handanović
Samir Handanović is a Slovenian professional soccer player who plays in the goalkeeping position. He started playing professional soccer with Domzale in Slovenia in 2003. He spent part of that season on loan with Zagorje, also in Slovenia. He moved to Italy in 2004 to play for Udinese. During his eight-year stint with the club, he was loaned to Treviso, Lazio and Rimini between 2005 and 2007. In 2012, he signed with Inter Milan, where he has gone on to play for more than nine years.
Family life
He is the younger cousin of Slovenian retired soccer player Jasmin Handanovic. He has Bosniak ancestry. In 2012, he married his longtime girlfriend, Zoja Trobec. They have two children together.
Achievements
He won his third AIC Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2019. He was also named Slovenian Footballer of the Year in 2009, 2011 and 212.
Trivia
He played for the Slovenia senior national team from 2004 to 2015, earning 81 caps.
