Sandra Day O'Connor is a former Supreme Court Justice of the United States. She was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 and served until she retired in 2006.
She holds the record as the first lady to serve in the Supreme Court.
She was born to Harry Alfred Day and Ada Mae and has a sister known as Ann Day. She and John Jay O'Connor got married in1952. They remained married till John died in 2009. They had three children together.
In 1995, she was inducted into the “National Women's Hall of Fame”. She was also awarded with an honorary doctoral degree by Yale University in 2006.
She has a degree in Economics from Stanford University and a degree in law from Stanford Law School.
