This sultry British pop star came into the spotlight in 1998 as the lead singer of the English indie-rock band “Black Box Recorder”. She is known for her dreamy yet icy voice which was heard in the band’s single “The Facts of Life”.
Early Life
Nixey worked as a backup singer for the band Balloon when her bandmate and drummer John Moore invited her to join Luke Haines to form the band Black Box Recorder.
Career
The band released their first album in 1998 “England Made Me”, which gave them a cult-like following. The success of the first album was followed up by their second album “The Facts of Life” and it peaked at No. 20. Following a year hiatus from the band, Nixey released her first solo singles “The Collector” and “Love & Exile” in 2006, receiving mixed reviews. However, her album “Brave Tin Soldiers”, which was released in 2011, was given positive reviews by The Independent and BBC Radio 6 Music.
