Michael Owusu Addo, popularly identified by his stage moniker Sarkodie, is a prominent Ghanaian rapper. He first shot to fame was his appearance on a rap battle program on radio called ‘Kasahare Level’. Since then, he has been notably known for releasing several hit tracks such as “One Time For Your Mind", “Azonto Fiesta”, “Borga”, “Illuminati” and “Oluwa Is Involved”.
He has also collaborated on tracks with other artistes such as “Mr Eazi”, “Davido”, “Ice Prince” and “Banky W”. In 2015, he featured international rapper Ace Hood on his track titled “New Guy”.
Family
He tied the knot with long time girlfriend, Tracy, in the year 2018. They have a child together called Adalyn Owusu Addo best known as Titi.
Achievements
In 2012, he received the award for Best International Act: Africa at the ‘BET Awards’; in so doing, he became the first Ghanaian musician to have ever won a BET award.
Sarkodie also won the award for Best Male Artist Inspirational Music at the ‘All Africa Music Awards; in 2018.
Trivia
He was named as Samsung Electronics’ brand ambassador in the year 2012.
