About Scatman Crothers
Scatman Crothers was an American actor, voiceover artist and musician best remembered for portraying the character Louie the Garbage Man on the television sitcom Chico and the Man. He was also known for providing the voices of numerous film and television characters, most notably the character Meadowlark Lemon on the animated television series The Harlem Globetrotters. In 1981, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Family Life
He married Helen Sullivan in 1937. He and Helen stayed married until his death in 1986. The marriage produced a daughter named Donna Crothers.
Trivia
Months before his death, he was no longer able to talk because of a lung cancer that had made its way to his esophagus.
A year after he died, he received a posthumous induction into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame.
