About Schapelle Corby
Schapelle Corby is an Australian woman who became internationally known after being arrested and convicted of smuggling marijuana into Bali, Indonesia. In 2005, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She was however released on parole after serving nine years at the Kerobokan Prison in Bali.
Personal Life
She is the daughter of Rosleigh Rose and Michael Corby. From 1998 to 2003, she was married to a Japanese man named Kimi Tanaka. The marriage was childless. She began a relationship with a former Indonesian inmate named Ben Panangian after being released from prison. She and Panangian met in jail.
Trivia
During her trial, she claimed she had no knowledge of the presence of the drugs in her luggage. According to her, the drugs were planted by someone in her bag.
