About Scott Moir
Scott Moir is arguably the most decorated Canadian ice dancer of his generation. His partnership with fellow Canadian Tessa Virtue has been described by many as one of the best in the sport. In 2017/18, the pair became the top ranked ice dancers on the ISU World Standings.
Before ending his career in 2019, Moir won three gold medals at both the Olympic Games and World Championships.
Coaching career
The celebrated dancer continued his career in the sport as a coach after announcing his retirement. He began as a consultant to the Lajoie/Lagha team. In 2021, he joined the Ice Academy of Montreal as the Managing Director and Head Coach. He has since coached some prominent performers like Nikolas Wamsteeker and Christina Carreira.
Family
He’s the son of Joe Moir and Alma MacCormack. The dancer grew up in the midst of two brothers named Charlie and Danny. The latter is also known to be a dancer.
Education
He studied at Medway High School.
Decorations
Moir received the Order of Canada in 2022. He has also been inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, and Canada's Walk of Fame.
Trivia
During his competitive period, he was coached by the likes of Marie-France Dubreuil and Marina Zoueva.
