About Sessue Hayakawa
Japanese actor Kintarō Hayakawa popularly known as Sessue Hayakawa rose to fame after appearing in the hit movie "The Typhoon" in 1914.
Early Life
Hayakawa was raised in Japan with a future of being an officer in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Hayakawa later moved to the United States to study at the University of Chicago and graduated in 1912 with a degree in political economics. His interest in the Japanese there made him choose the acting route.
Career
After Hayakawa's debut movie "The Typhoon" became an instant hit, the actor took on more roles in movies such as "The Wrath of The Gods" in 1914 and "The Cheat" in 1915. In 1918, the actor starred in "His Birthright" and "The Dragon Painter" in 1919. Hayakawa also acted in "The Swap" in 1921 and "La Bataille" in 1923.
Personal Life and Death
He married Tsuru Aoki from 1914 to 1961. He died in 1973 and had 3 children.
Trivia
It was known that Hayakawa tried to commit suicide after his raptured eardrums stopped him from joining the Imperial Japanese Navy.
