Shane Dawson is an American actor, comedian, singer, writer and internet personality. Some of his notable works include works include the audio-visual podcast "Shane and Friends, the hit web series "Conspiracy Series with Shane Dawson" and the romantic comedy film titled "Not Cool".
He has also released original music, most notably a 2012 song titled "Superluv!", which hit the number 1 position on iTunes Top 100 Chart.
As a writer, he has published a number of best-selling books, including his 2015 memoir which goes by the title "I Hate Myselfie".

Dawson was born to Teresa and Kyle Yaw Jr. He grew up with two older brothers named Jerid and Jacob.
From 2011 to 2015, he dated actress and fellow internet personality, Lisa Schwartz.
After the demise of his relationship with Schwartz, he began a romantic union with Ryland Adams (who is also a successful YouTuber). On the couple's three-year anniversary of being together, he proposed to Ryland.

Dawson surprised his fans in 2015 by announcing that he is bisexual.It is apparent that his bisexuality contributed to the demise of his relationship with fellow YouTube star Lisa Schwartz.
He has found himself embroiled in serious controversy on numerous occasions, including dabbling in racial comedy. For example, on multiple instances he has been seen in some of his old skits using blackface. In one of these skits, he wore a blackface while impersonating singer Chris Brown. He also once made use of the N-word much to the fury of the Black American community. After these racist videos were unearthed by the media, Dawson apologized for his actions and claimed he wasn't a racist, stating that he did so as a result of ignorance.
During his teenage years, he battled with serious weight issues. Furthermore, around that same time, he was abused severely by his father (who was an alcoholic). According to him, the abuse was both physical as well as mental.
He was also severely bullied while in high school because he was overweight.
Dawson once worked as a security guard before becoming famous.
In 2014, he revealed that he suffers from body dysmorphia (which is a mental disorder in which one obsessively worries about perceived flaws in how they look). According to him, he was forced to share this personal issue with the public because he knows a lot of people deal with it and he wants them to know they are not alone in it.
On March 11, 2020, he revealed via Twitter that he was "genuinely spiraling" and "freaking out" due to the global coronavirus outbreak. Dawson, who suffers from anxiety, said the coronavirus pandemic made his anxiety even worse. He stated that the situation was so overwhelming that he found it difficult processing all that was happening around him. However, he went on to reassure his fans all over the world that everything would be alright.
