Personal Life
She was given the name Shawna Lee Colvin when she was born. She was one of the three children her parents had. Because of her love for music, by the time she was ten, she had started learning to play the guitar. Some of her love for music came from listening to her father’s music collection. In 1993, she became the wife of Simon Tassano but left him two years later. In 1997, she married Mario Erwin who was a photographer but after a daughter, they ended the marriage in 2002.
Career
She has released over ten albums including “Steady On” which was her first, “Cover Girl” and “Uncovered” among others.
Trivia
She released “Diamond in the Rough”, her memoir which documents some of her challenges in life with alcoholism, depression and anxiety.
Achievement
In 1991, during the Grammy Awards, she received the Best Contemporary Folk Album award for her album “Steady On”. She received six more nominations at different times before winning again in 1998 for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for the track “Sunny Came Home”.
