Shawn Fanning is an American entrepreneur, computer programmer and angel investor. He rose to fame after he developed Napster, an online peer-to-peer file-sharing software, which was released in 1999.
He founded another tech company, SNOCAP, which was later sold to the online service imeem in 2008. The now-defunct social networking site for gamers, Rupture was also co-founded by him.
Personal Life
His parents’ names are Coleen Fanning and Joe Rando. He has been married to Jessica Wigsmoen. He dropped out of his studies at Northeastern University, Massachusetts.
Achievements
He was added to MIT Technology Review magazine’s top 100 worldwide innovators under 35 list in 2002.
