Sheldon Adelson was described by some as a serial entrepreneur by virtue of the number of businesses that he created. The American businessman and investor was known in the business world for his establishment of the casino and resort company, Las Vegas Sands, for which he served as chairman and CEO. He also owned huge shares in the company’s subsidiaries, the Singapore-based Marina Bay Sands, Sands Macao in Macau and The Venetian Las Vegas.
Family Life
His parents were Arthur and Sarah Adelson. He was Jewish, like his father. He and his first wife Sandra divorced in 1988. As of his death, his wife was medical doctor Miriam Ochshorn. He had five adopted children from his two marriages.
Politics
Adelson was a prominent political donor. He often collaborated with his wife, Miriam, to fund causes by political conservatives. He donated $25m to Donald Trump’s campaign for the US presidency in 2016.
Death
Almost two years before his death, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He died on 11 January 2021. He was 87.
