Early Life & Education
A six-year former U.S. Marine Corps officer, he was born in Chicago, Illinois. He learned wrestling at the Triton Community College in Illinois and later studied Jujutsu and Judo at Carson-Newman College, Tennessee.
Career Highlights
He started off in 1997 appearing in the Extreme Challenge promotion and later made his debut against LaVerne Clark which ended in a victory for Clark. Prior to his UFC 53 with Nathan Quarry which ended in a loss, he had beaten J.T Taylor to become the WEC welterweight champion in 2003. April 2017 saw him appear in a “bare knuckle" boxing match at BKB 4 in England where he fought against Jimmy Sweeney and lost his bout with the undefeated fighter.
Personal Life
He is the father of 3 children as of 2021.
Accomplishments
In amateur wrestling, he won an NJCAA All-American. He is a Collegiate World Team member.
