About Shyne
Belizean rapper Shyne shocked a section of the American media in 1998 when he landed a multi-million dollar contract with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. Following the signing, he worked with the likes of Usher, Total and Mase.
In spite of being in jail when his debut self-titled album was released, it was commercially successful and has been platinum-certified.
Under Def Jam Records, he released his second album, “Godfather Buried Alive” in 2004, while still serving his 10-year jail sentence.
Since his release from prison in 2009, he has become a Jew and entered Belizean politics.
Personal Life
He is the son of Frances Myvette and Dean Barrow, former Belizean Prime Minister. In June 2001, he was given a 10-year prison sentence after being present at a club shooting, which also involved Diddy and Jennifer Lopez.
Politics
He became a member of the Belize House of Representatives in November 2020 for the Mesopotamia constituency.
