About Sidney Sheldon
Sidney Sheldon was a writer, producer and director. In the late 1930s, he started out in Hollywood as a script reviewer but he moved to Broadway, where he worked for a while on musicals as a writer. He eventually returned to Hollywood, where he would find fame as a screenwriter.
He is, however, probably known best for his work as an author of commercially-successful romance novels such as “The Other Side of Midnight”, “Master of the Game” and “Rage of Angels”.
Family Life
He was the son of Natalie Marcus and Ascher Schechtel. He was married three times. He divorced his first wife Jane Harding, a year after their 1945 marriage.
His second wife, Jorja Curtright, died after over three decades of their union. His last wife was Alexandra Kostoff.
Achievements
He received a Tony Award and Academy Award for writing “Redhead” and “The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer”, respectively.
Death
He died of pneumonia on January 30, 2007, aged 89.
