Simo Häyhä

Simo Häyhä was a Finnish marksman who went by the nickname the “White Death”. He was a sniper in the Finnish Army during the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union. He reportedly killed 505 men during the war, making him the most successful sniper in a major war. He was known for his ability to hit targets as far as 150 meters away with his weapon of choice, a Finnish M/28-30 rifle.

He received several medals after the war, including the Medal of Liberty and the Cross of Kollaa Battle.

He was disfigured in the face after he was hit by an explosive bullet that blew off his left cheek.
