Early Life
He is an alumnus of Brown University and Columbia University School of the Arts. From the latter he obtained his MFA in 2003.
He wed Mali Heled in a Jewish wedding but the couple divorced in 2017 after having two sons. In 2019, he got engaged to writer Cleo Wade; the couple share two daughters.
Career
Kinberg, who was still in film school, sold a screenplay to Warner Brothers before going on to create scripts for Disney and DreamWorks while collaborating with filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer.
His first screenwriting credit was for the blockbuster “XXX (2002). He has been involved in a number of critically acclaimed films, including "X-Men" (2000), "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006), "Jumper" (2008) and "Sherlock Holmes" (2010). The latter starred the versatile and talented actor Robert Downey Jr as the titular character Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law as the good doctor John Watson.
He served as the writer and producer of "This Means War", a 2012 film that starred big names like Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.
He produced the movie "The Martian," which was helmed by Ridley Scott. He produced the films "Deadpool" (2016), "Logan" (2017), and "Murder on the Orient Express."
Trivia
While at Columbia University School of the arts, he was awarded the Zaki Gordon Fellowship for Screenwriting.
