About Son House
Considered amongst the distinguished performers of the Delta blues genre, Son House became known for his slide guitar playing skills and his emotional singing. A preacher from age 15, he disliked the blues genre on the basis of secularity and avoided it until age 25 when he took an affinity for it.
From 1930 to 1943, he gained fame locally as a performer and recording artist but failed to garner national recognition. He re-entered the music world professionally in 1964, following a revival of the folk blues genre and he became an international star. His best-known songs include “Walking Blues” and “Death Letter”.
