She is a native of Maringá, Paraná, Brazil. During her childhood, she lived in Curitiba and Campinas, São Paulo, and received her primary education at a convent school in São Paulo.
Career Highlights
In 1964, she played minor roles in several children’s programs on “TV Tupi,” including “Jardim Encantado.” She later joined the ABC’s theatre group, “Santo Andre,” and made her stage-acting debut at age 17.
Following a brilliant stage-acting career, she went on to become one of Brazil’s best film actresses. She earned Golden Globe Award nominations for her excellent performances in “Moon over Parador (1988)” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985).” In 1994, she earned an “Emmy” nomination for her role in “The Burning Season.”
She has starred in several award-winning TV series, such as “The Cosby Show,” “Sex and the City,” and “American Family.”
