About Sophie Scholl
Sophie Scholl was a German student and a core member of the White Rose, which was a non-violent resistance group that strongly opposed Adolf Hitler's regime. In 1943, she was caught by the Nazis distributing anti-Nazi resistance leaflets. That same year, she was convicted of treason and executed along with her brother Hans Scholl. Following her death, she became one of the most important figures of anti-Nazi resistance in Germany.
Family Life
She was the daughter of Magdalena and politician Robert Scholl, who was a known critic of the Nazi Party. She had five siblings, including Hans and Inge Scholl.
Trivia
According to prison officials, she walked unafraid to her execution. In her last words, she expressed the hope that through her death, people would awaken and revolt against the Nazi regime.
In a 2003 poll conducted by ZDF, she along with her brother Hans was voted among the most important Germans of all time.
