About Srinivasa Ramanujan
Srinivasa Ramanujan was a mathematical genius from India who contributed immensely to mathematical analysis, infinite series, number theory and continued fractions. Although he barely had formal training in pure mathematics, he went on to become one of the greatest mathematicians of his time. He died at the age of 32 after being ill.
Family Life
He was the son of K. Srinivasa and Komalatammal. In 1909, at the age of 22, he married a ten-year-old girl named Janaki Ammal. He did not live with Janaki until she was twelve years old.
Achievements
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1918, making him its youngest Fellow as of that time. That same year he became the first Indian to be elected a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.
