Personal Life
He was the son of Maria Pietrzkiewicz Witkiewiczowa and an architect and painter named Stanisław Witkiewicz. He was educated from home and because of that, he was encouraged to study all the many different things he wanted to know.
When he decided to pursue his education at Kraków Academy of Fine Arts, his father was not very happy about it but that did not deter him. He went ahead with his plan to study there.
Later in his life, he started a relationship with Jadwiga Janczewska and was planning to make her his wife when she killed herself. This greatly affected him as he blamed himself for the unfortunate incident.
Career
At a point in his life, he joined the Imperial Russian Army also against his father’s wishes. Some of his literary works are “The 622 Downfalls of Bungo or The Demonic Woman” and “Farewell to Autumn”.
Cause of Death
In 1939, he received report that the Soviet Union had invaded Poland and this caused such great sadness to him that he chose to commit suicide.
